WA Intern Online Recruitment
In 2005, the Postgraduate Medical Council commenced the process of introducing an online intern recruitment process. Click to access WA Intern Online Recruitment.
The benefits of this system are:
- single point of entry-online;
- streamlined process;
- central management with hospital specific decision-making (autonomy);
- ease of use;
- strong reporting functionality;
- ability for applicants to apply for multiple positions through a single application using preferencing;
- ability for applicant to Edit / Save their application up to submission or closing date;
- provide offers online; and
- ability for applicants to accept offers online.

Increased training positions for internship in Western Australia
The number of medical graduates in Western Australia is increasing from 144 in 2006 to 306 in 2009. The Council has commenced, in collaboration with the Department of Health of Western Australia and other key stakeholders, a project to identify the issues and strategies for increasing the number of intern training positions in Western Australia.
