JMO Charter 2009

1. Introduction

Who we are

The Junior Medical Officer (JMO) Forum is made up of volunteer, representative and elected members from all of the major tertiary hospitals in Western Australia. It meets (at least) bi-monthly and is led by the JMO Committee. Membership of the JMO Committee is determined by representation from the tertiary hospitals’ Junior Doctor Societies, and elected positions of chair and deputy chair. Medical student representatives from Notre Dame and UWA also participate on the committee. The JMO Committee aims to enable effective JMO representation on relevant PMCWA Committees and other bodies to facilitate two-way communication. For more information see Section 3.10 – JMO Forum.

Purpose of this document

This document can be used as a reference point for your junior doctor years. It includes a range of information and contacts, and can be used as a guide for where to go for help or advice. It also has details on the PMC JMO Forum and AMA DIT Committee who always welcome new members. If you are just starting out in the hospital system, it gives you an idea of standards and expectations that come with working in the hospital environment, which may not have been explained whilst at university.
