JMO Forum Framework for Election of Co-Chairs

Background:

The PMCWA JMO Forum has developed a framework regarding the election of co-chairs. The adoption of this new framework will function to formalise the election process and stipulate the process in the event of multiple nominations.

Framework:

Eligibility

Must have attended two JMO forums (inclusive of the forum at which elections are conducted) in the calendar year.

Call for nominations

Nominations will open at the commencement of the JMO Forum on Monday, 6 August 2012.

Nominations will be called for verbally during the August Forum (13 August 2012). This is to be followed by an email to the JMO distribution, one to two weeks after the August Forum.

Closure of Nominations

Nominations will close on Monday, 8 October 2012 exactly one week prior to the JMO Forum held on Monday, 15 October 2012 whereby the election will take place.

Notification in Event of Multiple Nominations

Email to be sent to the JMO Forum email distribution list at least one week prior (8 October 2012 ) to the October JMO Forum (15 October 2012). This email shall inform JMOs of the multiple nominations for chairs and detail the protocol for elections. Elections will be held at the October JMO Forum and all JMOs will need to be present if they wish to vote.

Presentation

In event of multiple nominations, nominees are to prepare a brief presentation (less than five minutes) explaining why they should be elected.

Ballot

A secret ballot shall be conducted at the October JMO Forum. Votes shall be counted by a member of PMCWA administrative staff. The new chairs shall be announced before the close of the forum.
