2010 Intern Application Process - Information for Applicants
Intern Online Application
Registration – How do I apply online?
If this is your first visit to the job search site, you are required to register.
- Go to www.jobs.wa.gov.au
- Then go to ‘Login’ on the left hand side

- Then click: Not Registered?

- You will then need to agree to the ‘Terms and Conditions of use’ in order to proceed with your application.
- Click: Yes
- The system will then ask you for you’re:
First Name
Surname, and
Email - Once you have completed this click ‘proceed’. The system will automatically send you a password to your nominated email address.
- Login: Once you have received your password to your email account, you are ready to commence your application.
- Type your full email address and password. Click: Login

- You can edit and save incomplete applications at any time by accessing “My Applications” on the summary page.
- Summary: Once you are logged in, a summary page will be available. On the left vertical menu click: My Details.
- Complete all relevant details. Click: Save
- Once your personal details have been saved, you will be returned to the top of the page. Select job search.
- Click: Job Search
- Type in WA Intern and follow the instructions to apply for the position.

- The intern application process will consist of seven sections:
- Section One – Personal Questions.
You will be asked for a list of personal details which you must provide answers to. These will include: name; postal address; education; other relevant qualifications; referees; employment details and details of current position. - Section Two – Selection Criteria.
Selection criteria are the skills, qualifications and experience considered necessary to successfully perform the duties of an intern. The 2010 intern application process will consist of four criteria, each criterion to be a maximum of 500 words (except criteria one).- Primary medical degree registerable with the Medical Board of WA
- Ability to work effectively in a healthcare environment. In your answer, provide examples of good interpersonal skill, an ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment, and good organisation and time management skills
- Commitment to working in WA to promote, protect, maintain, and restore the health of the people of WA. Indicate how these commitments have influenced your decision to choose your hospital of first preference
- Commitment to continued learning and academic excellence
- Section Three – Application Questions.
This section will verify which internship prioritisation group the applicant fits.- Are you a graduate of a WA medical school who is an Australian citizen or permanent resident?
( ) Yes
( ) No - Are you a graduate of an accredited interstate Australian or New Zealand medical school who is an Australian citizen or permanent resident, or a New Zealand citizen?
( ) Yes
( ) No - Are you an international student graduated from a WA medical school who is able to fulfil the visa requirements of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship?
( ) Yes
( ) No - Are you an international student graduated from an accredited interstate Australian or New Zealand medical school who is able to fulfil the visa requirements of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship?
( ) Yes
( ) No - Are you an International Medical Graduate who has passed the AMC MCQ exam?
( ) Yes

- Are you a graduate of a WA medical school who is an Australian citizen or permanent resident?
- Section Four – Medical Degree Questions.
Questions related to the name of the University where the applicant’s medical degree was completed and the year in which the medical degree will or was completed.- What is the name of the University where your medical degree was completed?
- In which year did you/will you complete your medical degree?
- Section Five – Primary Allocation Centre Preference Questions.
There are three Primary Allocation Centres (PACs) offering internships in WA. You will be asked to indicate which PAC is your preferred employer by numbering the hospitals from 1 to 3 (with one being the most preferred and three is the least preferred option).- ( ) Royal Perth Hospital

- Section Six – Rural Intern Rotations: Expressions of Interest.
You will be asked whether you are interested in doing one or more rural hospital rotations during your internship. Please tick the response that applies.- Are you interested in doing one or more rural hospital rotations during your internship?

( ) No (go to Section 7) - If Yes, how many weeks would you like to spend doing rural hospital rotations during your internship?
( ) 10 weeks (1 rotation)
( ) 20 weeks (2 rotations)
( ) 30 weeks (3 rotations) - Please provide a brief statement indication why youwould be interested in doing one or more rural rotations (maximum of 350 words).
- The Rural Training Collaborative (RTC) offers support for doctors undertaking rural postgraduate training. Do you give permission to be contacted by the RTC? This is independent of the selection process.

You must submit the following as attachments via your online application:- Curriculum Vitae/Resume (maximum two pages). Please ensure you include the following information:
- Educational background (including years of education)
- Activities/interests
- Name and contact details of 2 referees
- Academic Record of your medical degree up until the date of application

Please note:
All applicants will be required to attach their Curriculum Vitae and scan and attach an Academic Record to their application. You will be asked to do this at the end of the application process prior to submitting your application.
For University of Notre Dame students:
Students are able to purchase an official academic transcript from the Student Administration Office. Students will then need to upload their academic transcript so that it can be attached to their application. Your application will not be accepted without this document.
For University of Western Australia students:
Students can apply for an official academic transcript for a fee of $10.00 however the process for this usually takes two days. Students will need to scan or upload their academic transcript so that it can be attached to their application. Your application will not be accepted without this document.
For other applicants:
All other applicants will need to check with their university on the process of obtaining an official academic transcript. Students will need to scan or upload their academic transcript so that it can be attached to their application. Your application will not be accepted without this document.
IMPORTANT: If you wish to exit your application at any stage, remember to save and logout. All information will be saved to this point.
Are there any intern application information sessions
If you are medical student of a WA medical school, an intern information application session will be arranged with your medical school.
Are there any helpful hints when using the online application?
- Remember to regularly save your work. The ‘Save’ button is found at the bottom of each page.
- An active, reliable email account is essential as all correspondence will be via email.

- If you have not received your password within one hour, please contact: helpdesk@bigredsky.com
- Fields in red are mandatory.
- Dates field must be formatted: yyyy-mm-dd, for example 2010-05-26
- If you wish to go back a page/s in your application, click “back” at the bottom of the page. Do Not Use the internet browser back button as you may lose information.
- Once you have submitted your application you will no longer be able to edit your application. If you do wish to alter your application before the closing date you will need to withdraw your application, update it and then re-submit it.
- Please remember that your application will not be accepted if submitted after 5.00pm (WA time) on Tuesday 23 June 2009.
- It is recommended that you keep a copy of your application. To print a copy of your application you will need to use the internet browser print function and print each page of your application.
- Prepare all documentation prior to commencing your online application. This is especially important for your selection criteria, if it is prepared before, you will be able to copy from your word document and paste onto the online application dialogue box.
